Bring the Holiday Spirit to Your Apartment

The sights, the sounds, the family get-togethers, and of course, the food, are some of the best parts of the holidays.

Getting into the holiday spirit can be as easy as putting up some decorations, tossing a turkey in the oven, and eating copious amounts of cookies. Here are a few things you can do to get ready for the holiday season.

Holiday Decorations

Bright lights, antique pieces of winter history, and far too many jolly and joyous decorations are some of the quintessential holiday must-haves. Getting your apartment decorated for the holidays can be one of the most fun parts of the year, and can easily be done without damaging your walls or apartment in any way. Swap your every-day pictures with some of your favourite holiday mementos, put out your go-to decorations that you've had since you were a kid, and utilize winter-themed window stickers. Decking your apartment halls with your favourite decorations is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season.

Holiday Food Essentials

The smell of gingerbread cookies brings us back to a simpler time where all we had to worry about was when we could eat the cookies, when the next snowfall would be, and of course, what we were getting that year. Bring some of that holiday history back into your apartment for your family, or just for yourself, by making  cookies and all your favourite holiday dishes. Keep it classic with gingerbread, shortbread, or chocolate chip cookies, or mix it up with chocolate coconut snowballs. Top it off with everybody's favourite holiday drink: eggnog! Spice it up this year by making your own eggnog.

A Safe and Family-Filled Holiday

With COVID-19 still hindering our ability to get together as a family, look for creative solutions to get the family together this year. Using online video calling services such as Zoom or FaceTime are an excellent alternative to seeing family and friends in person. This also opens up the opportunity to talk face-to-face with family and friends in different parts of the world, while not having to actually travel to see them. Figure out some fun games, dress yourself up, and enjoy the holidays with whoever you want, wherever they may be.
