Is Your Property Ready for a Tenant

As dealers in Edmonton property rentals, we have come across several tenants who are unhappy with the property they rent. Whether it is an unclean bathroom or scraped walls, many landlords tend to fail at handling the property management hassles. As a result, they see a huge tenant turnover or go on without rent for months.

Inspecting and updating the property for tenants is an important part of your role as a landlord. It not only helps maintain the life of the property but also puts you in a better position to attract tenants. If you have found a tenant, it’s time you start readying the property to welcome the tenant.

Make it Safe and Healthy

Is there a broken window lock or a broken smoke detector? This could pose hazards to the tenant. A tenant has the right to a safe and healthy property. A damaged property could threaten their safety and put you in a bad situation. Check whether detectors, switches, taps, door locks, walls, are in good condition. Also, check for signs of mold and dampness. If you spot any damage, get it repaired or replaced immediately. Inspecting the property before every new tenant moves in will pay you off well in the long run.

Get it Professionally Cleaned and Updated

Who likes an unclean bathroom or dirty exteriors? No one right! A clean property is always appreciated. Getting the property cleaned is important, especially when there was a tenant living in the place before the new one comes in. Make sure every part of your property, interiors and exteriors, is thoroughly cleaned. The tub, toilet, kitchen, carpets, garden, driveway, etc., must all be cleaned and tidied before the tenant comes in.

Ensure Basic Utilities are in Place

Utilities like water, electricity, and heat are basic necessities and cannot be compromised on. Before a tenant moves in, make sure these utilities are in place. You must check for leaks, faulty heaters, electricity issues, and anything that bars the use of these utilities. If you find any plumbing issues or find a damaged appliance, get it repaired or replaced immediately. The availability of these necessities will ensure a quality life for tenants.

While these were some you must keep updating your property time and again. A well-maintained property with modern amenities will ensure your property is never vacant. If you are struggling with property management, consult an Edmonton property rentals service and you will be sorted.
