Here in Edmonton, we’ve got some fantastic hills and parks for tobogganing. If your family is looking for some wintery fun, these Edmonton hills offer the best adrenaline rush.
Before heading out, ensure your sled will slide easily down the hill and last the whole day through. Our favourites include the foam flyers which speedily slip down the slopes and the plastic snow sleds that are built to last.
You’ll find an excellent sledding hill just minutes from our South-Central Edmonton rentals at Whitemud Park North. Here, there is parking at the top of the hill and a convenient wooden staircase that makes the trek back up the hill easier. For more experienced sledders, this hill also offers jumps and bumps to keep things interesting.
For a long steep hill, try Gallagher Park. This large hill, close to our downtown Edmonton rentals, is a favourite among families and offers beautiful views of the city. Due to its size and slope, sledding on this hill can get speedy, helmets are strongly recommended. For your convenience a portable washroom is available.
The Jackie Parker Park offers several different sloped hills with some that are slower and others perfect for thrill-seekers. Minutes from our Mill Woods rentals, this park also has a skating rink and playground to keep the fun going.
Magrath Heights Park in Southwest Edmonton, a few minutes from our rentals in southwest Edmonton has two hills to enjoy. One hill is better suited for the little kids while the other is perfect for those advanced sledders that love going fast.
Rundle Park has two separate hills, one that is suited best for younger children and the other that has the speed and excitement older sledders enjoy. Just 5 minutes from our Rundle Heights rentals, this park is monitored by the city and hay bails are placed at the end of the run to ensure sledders can stop safely.
Always sled with a helmet and wait until the path is clear before heading down the hill. Some hills may be unsafe to visit or have insufficient snow coverage, so check current hill conditions before heading out.
