Save time on laundry day by sorting your laundry as it goes into the hamper. This foldable hamper has sections and a lid which conceals laundry. On laundry day, simply pull out the liner bags with the sorted laundry. Protect your clothing by wearing some articles more than once before washing. Jeans actually last longer and keep their colour better when only washed once every 3 to 5 wears.

When you don’t have time to wash something, consider refreshing it instead. Refreshing your clothing with a natural fabric refresher can keep clothing looking and smelling good while also helping the fabric last longer. Over washing some fabrics can cause fading, thinning, and stretching.

Using too much laundry detergent can also cause problems. Generally, HE washing machines require only 2 tablespoon of detergent per regular load. Using more detergent can leave your washing machine with a foul odor, leave clothing too wet, or even stain fabrics. Alternatively, you can save money and the environment by making your own laundry products.

Your load size and weight play a factor too. Always wash a full load, but pairing items of equal weight can save drying time. For example, wash all towels together, all linens together, and all heavy weight clothing together. This also helps reduce wear and tear on fabrics.

When washing clothing with zippers or buttons, remember to always zip up the zippers to keep them from snagging other articles. Button shirts should always be washed unbuttoned to reduce stress on the buttons and buttonholes. 

When drying, eliminate static cling by adding ½ cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle. Vinegar helps to reduce static and softens fabrics. Actually, vinegar is a natural solution to many laundry issues. Reduce drying time by adding a dry towel into the dryer with your wet load. The towel will help absorb moisture from the load but should be removed after the first 15 minutes.
